AOL’s FanHouse UK selects The Beautiful Game

Jackdaw4 is delighted with FanHouse UK‘s endorsement of The Beautiful Game as its choice of World Cup theme. The Football Association may have decided against naming an official song this year, but what’s a World Cup without a tune?

Free download of Rosebud
Rosebud is a song partly inspired by the movie Citizen Kane, and partly inspired by Phil Wilding’s new novel “Cross Country Murder Song” which was out on Feb 25th and in my humble opinion, is simply brilliant.
If you don’t know Phil, he is to be spotted on the recent video interview footage from the 100 Club. Phil is the shy, retiring individual towards the middle and at the end of the video, very difficult to get him to talk, but eventually he managed a few reluctant words. He has a barely noticeable welsh accent and after some intense pressure he finally sheepishly agreed to plug his book.
Anyway, rather than hold this track back for some future album we decided to give it to you as soon as it was. It can be downloaded from our Bandacmp.

Following the gig at the 100 Club we have had requests to make this song available again.
Written as the title music for the BBC2 comedy documentary “The Cup”, which took a wry look at the world of kids football and the pushy parents trying to live out their own dreams through the lives of their children, this full length song version of the title music veers away from the story behind the show and looks instead at the strange behaviour of the football fan.
Beautiful Game is available as a FREE download – in a multitude of formats – from our Bandcamp.
Free download of Retrospectacles extra tracks
Retrospectacles will be released on 25 January 2010. The double CD includes four tracks not available on either Gramophone Logic or Bipolar Diversions.
These songs are available as a FREE download – in a multitude of formats – from our Bandcamp.
J4cast Episode 4
The fourth podcast is the first to feature a shiny new song. As ever, it features the voices of you, the delightful friends of the band talking earnestly, angrily, forthrightly, cagily and occasionally in a mildly embarrassed state, discussing this month’s hot topic, the subject of ‘Pornography’, by way of an introduction in to the brand new Jackdaw4 song covering the same issue and titled unsurprisingly, ‘Pornography’
